Rich Beem Wins the 84th PGA Championship and Moves to World No.26

Rich Beem won his first Major Championship this week as he took the 84th PGA Championship at Hazeltine Country Club in Chaska, Minnesota. Beem, who was not in the field until his victory in The International two weeks ago, moves up from No.73 in the world to No.26 – the highest world ranking position of his career thus far and an improvement of 258 positions in 2002 alone. The World No.1 Tiger Woods completed his round with a flurry of birdies to finish alone in 2nd place and is now 7.95 points clear of Phil Mickelson. Chris Riley moves to No.54 due to his 3rd place finish and Fred Funk, who finished T4, jumps into the Top-50 at No.50.

In the North-West of Ireland Open on the European Tour, Sweden’s Adam Mednick claimed his first European Tour title as he held off the challenges of Costantino Rocca and Andrew Coltart. Adam moves up 348 positions to World No.297.

In the Preferred Health Systems Wichita Open, Tyler Williamson captured his first BUY.Com tour title and Tyler advances 365 spots to World No. 541.

On the Canadian Professional Golf Tour Chris Locker of Columbia, South Carolina won the Greater Toronto Open at the first play-off hole and Chris moves to No.617 in the world.
