Lying six shots back at the half way stage, the man who came so close to both the FedEx Cup and Money List titles on the PGA Tour in 2011, put together a superb weekend with a pair of 68s proving enough to give the North Carolina man the title at Olympic. Finishing an hour or so ahead of the final group and having posted a score of one over par, Simpson then had to wait as his challengers tried to match or beat his mark, but when Furyk and McDowell failed to birdie the last it meant Webb was the winner. As well as having won his national Open Webb Simpson now finds himself firmly inside the top ten of the Ranking at fifth place.

Darren Fichardt picked up his first win on The European Tour in some nine years after braving a weekend of high winds to win by two at the Saint-Omer Open presented by Neuflize OBC. Starting the day five clear of second place, the 2003 Qatar Masters champion battled to a two over par round of 73, and with the inclement conditions and his healthy advantage starting the day, Fichardt managed to hang on and as a result jump 128 places to world number 179.
Thaworn Wiratchant picked up a record equalling 13th career Asian Tour title after a three shot win over Juvic Pagunsan and Siddikur at the Queen’s Cup. The chasing pack had looked like denying the Thai golfer this latest title but no one could handle his birdie-par-eagle finish to streak clear. The triumph sees him tie compatriot Thongchai Jaidee’s victory haul and comes some 16 years after Wiratchant’s maiden title at the Sabah Masters, Malaysia. It also sees him climb to 137th in the World having begun the year just inside the top 200.
Starting the day one clear Justin Harding compiled a fine final round 68 to win the Indo Zambia Bank Zambian Open by two strokes. In blustery conditions he always looked assured, and walking up 18 with a three shot lead, was able to enjoy the walk and take the title. Thanks to this fine display, Harding is now 274 places better off in the World Ranking at equal 559th spot.
