US Open Championship

Martin Kaymer completed his second wire-to-wire win in the space of five weeks with an utterly dominant display in the US Open Championship at Pinehurst No.2.

Looking to become the first German player to win the title - although the fourth European in the last five years after Ryder Cup team-mates Graeme McDowell, Rory McIlroy and Justin Rose - Kaymer took a five shot lead into the final round and was never in danger of being caught.

The 29 year old carded a closing 69 to finish nine under par and eight shots clear of American duo Rickie Fowler and Erik Compton, becoming the eighth player in US Open history to lead outright after every round after Walter Hagen (1914), James Barnes (1921), Ben Hogan (1953), Tony Jacklin (1970), Tiger Woods (2000, 2002) and McIlroy (2011).

Successive rounds of 65 - the lowest in a US Open at Pinehurst - meant Kaymer had equalled the lowest halfway total in Major Championship history, as well as eclipsing the US Open record of 131 set by Rory McIlroy at Congressional in 2011.

Challenge Tour - Najeti Hotels et Golfs Open

Jordi Garcia Pinto showed all the class and composure of a future European Tour star as the Spaniard soared to a second Challenge Tour victory at the Najeti Hotels et Golfs Open, virtually securing his playing rights on The 2015 Race to Dubai in the process.

The 24 year old led by two shots heading into the final day at the pristine Aa Saint Omer Golf Club and came under some intense pressure midway through the final day as several players made a charge towards the top.

Garcia Pinto stood firm, however, and displayed imperious poise as he parred the opening nine holes before following that up with a rock-solid one under back nine to clinch victory courtesy of a bogey-free 70.

The Girona player, who led the Rankings by just €807 before this week’s tournament, finished the tournament on seven under par, three clear of his compatriot Carlos Aguilar, and moved to €93,421 in the rankings – far surpassing the €78,676 which earned Scot Jamie McLeary the last of 15 European Tour cards last year.

Asian Development Tour - PGM Vascory Templer Park Championship

Malaysia’s top amateur Gavin Kyle Green inked his name into the record books by becoming the first amateur to win on the Asian Development Tour (ADT) at the PGM Vascory Templer Park Championship on Saturday.

The big-hitting Green, who is playing on a sponsor’s invitation in his very first ADT event this week, closed with a flawless eight-under-par 64 for a sensational 11-stroke victory over countryman Airil Rizman at the RM250,000 (approximately US$80,000) ADT event.

The 20-year-old Malaysian also set a new 72-hole scoring record on the ADT with his commanding four-day total of 26-under-par 262 at the Templer Park Country Club.

PGA Tour China - Earls Beijing Open

On the 17th hole during the final round of the Earls Beijing Open, China’s Xin Jun Zhang went from chasing to the guy everybody was trying to catch.

Zhang made a birdie on the second-to-last hole, while leader Mathew Perry made a triple bogey, and that four-shot swing gave Zhang the title over Perry and helped Zhang make PGA TOUR China Series history. Zhang’s win was the first by a China-born player.

Korean Golf Tour - 2014 Bosung CC Classic

Kim Woo-Hyun won his second event in 2 weeks at the 2014 Bosung CC Classic gaining 6 ranking points moving him from 592nd to 412th in the World Ranking.
