Brooks Koepka received the 2019 OWGR McCormack Award at the 102nd PGA Championship, TPC Harding Park, for holding the No.1 position for the greatest number of weeks in the calendar year with a total of 33 weeks.
In 1997 the Governing Board created an “Award” recognising the player who had been No.1 position for the most weeks in each calendar year. It was proposed that this award be named the “McCormack Award” in recognition of Mark H McCormack’s vision and dedication in establishing and administering the World Ranking system.
The first Award was won by Tiger Woods in 1998 who then won the Award for thirteen successive years before Luke Donald won in 2011. Rory McIlroy won the Award in the following year before Tiger Woods won again in 2013. Rory then won the award for the second and third time in 2014 and 2015.
Jason Day was the recipient of the 2016 Award with 41 weeks at No.1 and in 2017 Dustin Johnson took over the No.1 spot from Jason Day and held on to the position until the end of the year for a total of 46 weeks. Dustin also won the 2018 Award with 35 weeks at No.1. In 2019 Brooks Koepka won the Award with 33 weeks at No.1.
