PGA Tour - ZOZO CHAMPIONSHIP

Field Rating - 186.75367

It was worth the trip to Japan for Keegan Bradley, who won the ZOZO CHAMPIONSHIP on Sunday with a 2-under 68, one shot ahead Rickie Fowler and Andrew Putnam for his first PGA TOUR win in just over four years. Bradley raised both arms to the sky and had to choke back tears after clinching the victory with a tap-in on 18.

Bradley bogeyed two of the last five holes, but came through with a key birdie putt on the 17th to give him a two-shot lead going in the 18th ahead of playing partners Fowler and Putnam. Finishing with a 15-under total of 265.

“It’s not going to be easy, I knew it wasn’t going to be easy," Bradley said. “Things aren't easy for me normally.”

He called the putt on birdied on 17 “one of the best holes of my life.”

Bradley won the PGA Championship in 2011 to give him a fast start to this career. The rest has not been as easy. Bradley's last PGA TOUR victory was in 2018 at the BMW Championship. This is his fifth TOUR victory.

“This (victory) is high up there,” he said. “I really put a lot of work in during this off season and this is what I want to do. I want to win tournaments. I want to play Ryder Cups. I want to be in the conversation and this is a good start.”

The ZOZO, played at the Accordia Golf Narashino Country Club on the outskirts of Tokyo, is the only PGA TOUR event in Japan. The prize money is $11 million with $1.98 million to the winner.

Challenge Tour - English Trophy presented by Rocket Yard Sports Marketing

Field Rating - 29.31609

Jeremy Freiburghaus moved into the Number One spot on the Road to Mallorca Rankings after overcoming Max Schmitt in a play-off at the English Trophy presented by Rocket Yard Sports Marketing.

A par at the first extra hole was enough for the 26-year-old to claim his first European Challenge Tour title as Schmitt could only manage a double bogey six after seeing his first tee shot bounce in the car park and onto the roof of the clubhouse.

The duo took part in an epic duel on the final day at Frilford Heath Golf Club, as Freiburghaus overturned a two-stroke deficit with a sublime six under par 66 to tie on 22 under par after 72 holes, before triumphing in the play-off to move to the top of the Rankings ahead of the Rolex Challenge Tour Grand Final supported by The R&A.

“I’ve been waiting for this moment all year and to have it happen on the very last tournament is pretty special,” he said.

“It’s very big. Getting a win was the main goal this year, came up short twice, but I think that really helped me to stay patient and humble for the win and here we are.

“My goal was to finish up there and I didn’t think about finishing first but I’m really happy.”

Freiburghaus, from Switzerland, dropped only one shot in his final round – at the par three ninth – and credited an improvement in his putting for reaching the summit, before sticking to his strategy in the play-off.

Professional Golf Tour of India -Jeev Milkha Singh Invitational presented by TAKE

Field Rating - 5.01603

Indian star Gaganjeet Bhullar pulled off a stellar performance in the final round to win his first-ever Jeev Milkha Singh Invitational Trophy. The INR 1.5 Cr Jeev Milkha Singh Invitational 2022 presented by TAKE culminated today at the Chandigarh Golf Club. Gaganjeet (69-65-68-71) who was tied at the top with local boy Karandeep Kocchar till the 17th hole, edged past on his final putt on the 18th to sink a sensational 10-footer birdie to walk away with the winner’s cheque with an overall score of 15-under 273. The 2020 Champion Karandeep Kocchar (65-70-68-71) of Chandigarh finished as the runner-up with an overall score of 14-under 274 while 2018 winner Chikkarangappa S (65-71-67-72) and Chandigarh’s Akshay Sharma (69-68-71-67) finished at Tied third with identical overall scores of 13-under 275.

Gaganjeet, who hails from Kapurthala, had a bumpy start today bogeying twice on the front nine as birdies eluded him. However, his back nine got him some breathing space with back-to-back birdies on the 11th and 12th holes before hitting a roadblock with another bogey on the 15th hole where he missed a short putt. A birdie immediately after got him back into contention and the 10-time Asian Tour winner did not let this opportunity slip-by as he converted his final shot on the 18th – a 12-footer birdie putt to win his maiden Jeev Milkha Singh Invitational in style, also breaking the tradition of this tournament entering a playoff in its last four editions. Gaganjeet carded one-under 71 in his final round today.

PGA Tour of Australasia - CKB WA PGA Championship presented by TX Civil & Logistics

Field Rating - 5.78496

Victorian David Micheluzzi has won the CKB WA PGA Championship presented by TX Civil and Logistics by three strokes in a see-sawing final day at Kalgoorlie Golf Course in Kalgoorlie.

Desert winds that gusted in excess of 40km/h turned Sunday’s final round into a battle for survival, Micheluzzi and 54-hole leader Jarryd Felton engaging in a cut and thrust throughout their round.

There were two-shot swings on three occasions in the final group as Micheluzzi sought to keep pace with the 2020 champion. Twice over the course of the front nine Felton’s lead ballooned out to three strokes but Micheluzzi clawed his way back to be just one behind as they began the back nine.

Back-to-back bogeys at 11 and 12 appeared to bring Micheluzzi’s championship hopes unstuck yet he displayed his growing maturity to fight back with three birdies in the next four holes. He took the outright lead at the 15th hole and then moved two clear with a birdie at the par-4 16th.

Micheluzzi and Felton both made bogey at the tough par-3 17th, providing the Victorian with a two-shot advantage playing the 72nd hole.

Micheluzzi completed his maiden win on the ISPS HANDA PGA Tour of Australasia in the first event of the 2022/2023 season, a sublime up-and-down for birdie at the last sealing his first win as a professional. His final round of two-under 70 gave Micheluzzi a four-round total of 15-under par, three clear of Ferguson (69) who claimed outright second.

Sunshine Tour - Blue Label Challenge

Field Rating - 12.59282

Ferreira leads Blue Label Challenge with aggressive but smart shots. Finishing with two bogeys in the last three holes normally goes against the grain for golfers, but the nature of the modified Stableford scoring system means it was worth the risk for Stephen Ferreira and did not cost him the lead at the end of the second round of the Blue Label Challenge at the Gary Player Country Club on Thursday.

Ferreira still posted an excellent 13 points on Thursday, via a five-under-par 67, and he is two points clear of Jbe’ Kruger.

Up until his dropped shots on the par-three 16th and the par-five 18th, the 30-year-old Zimbabwe resident, who plays under the Portuguese flag, was unstoppable with five birdies and an eagle-three, worth five points, on the fifth hole.

“I’m very happy, I felt good today and played really solid golf and sank a few putts,” Ferreira said. “I was aggressive and smart.”

“My first bogey was because I took the wrong club on the par-three and was in the wrong place in the bunker and couldn’t get up-and-down. On the last hole, I had 230 to the flag and had a go because a bogey is only minus-one. It was a risky shot and I didn’t quite pull it off, but in this format, every now and then you have to take a risk.

“But on five I hit a good tee-shot in the middle of the fairway, had 237 to the flag and knew exactly which club to use, a nice floating five-wood to 10 feet and then I made the putt,” Ferreira said.
