News for the 6 Eligible Official World Golf Ranking Tournaments
DP World Tour - Hero Dubai Desert Classic
Rory McIlroy remains World Number One after winning his first Rolex Series title & a third victory at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic after a dramatic final day at Emirates Golf Club. The World Number One has a CV to rival the greats of the game, with four Major Championships, four Harry Vardon Trophies and three FedEx Cups to his name but he arrived in the UAE still missing a triumph in one of the DP World Tour's prestige events.
He put that right in fine fashion on a Monday finish over the Majlis Course, birdieing the 17th and 18th in a 68 to finish at 19 under, one clear of American Patrick Reed.
Reed's 65 made for a thrilling finish as the duo went toe-to-toe over the back nine, but it was McIlroy who emerged the victor to move to second in the Race to Dubai Rankings in Partnership with Rolex.
Australian Lucas Herbert - the 2020 winner of this event - finished third at 16 under, a shot clear of England's Callum Shinkwin and two ahead of Frenchman Julien Brun. It is the first time McIlroy has won his first event of the year and takes his tally of DP World Tour wins to 15 at the scene of his first, which came 13 years and 363 days ago.
The Northern Irishman joins Ernie Els as a three-time winner at Emirates Golf Club and extends his remarkable run of form which saw him record nine top tens in ten events last season, with a worst finish of 12th en route to being crowned Europe's Number One.
Rounds of 66-70-65 had seen McIlroy enter the final day of a weather-affected tournament with a three-shot lead and while he was overtaken by Reed at one point, he holed a 14-footer on the last after laying up to make the perfect start to his season.
"It means a lot," said McIlroy. "It's actually funny, (caddie) Harry said to me, 'finally we get a gold bib'. Obviously, I haven't won one of these big ones before.

PGA Tour – Farmers Insurance Open
Max Homa erases five-shot deficit to win Farmers Insurance Open moving into the Top 15 in the Official World Golf Ranking for the first time. Southern California native Max Homa came from five shots off the lead to win the Farmers Insurance Open by two strokes over Keegan Bradley on Saturday at Torrey Pines, where Jon Rahm imploded early and missed a shot at winning his third straight start and moving to No. 1 in the world.
Homa reeled in Sam Ryder, who was trying for a wire-to-wire win, and then held off Bradley and Collin Morikawa for his sixth PGA Tour win and fourth in his home state. He took The Genesis Invitational at Riviera in 2021 and has won the Fortinet Championship in Napa in consecutive years.
Homa closed with a 6-under 66 to finish at 13-under 275. He made a 4-foot birdie putt on No. 18 and pumped his right fist before greeting wife Lacey and infant son Cam just off the green.
Rahm shot a 74, his worst round of the week, and tied for seventh at 8 under with Jason Day (68), a two-time Farmers winner. Rahm got his first PGA Tour win here in 2017 and then won the U.S. Open in 2021 at the municipal course that overlooks the Pacific Ocean. Rahm won The American Express at PGA West last weekend and at the Sentry Tournament of Champions three weekends ago at Kapalua.
Homa, playing in the group ahead of Ryder, Rahm, and Tony Finau, took the lead at 12 under by curling in a 16-foot birdie putt on the par-3 16th after a 226-yard tee shot. Ryder had a double-bogey 6 on the 15th to drop to 10 under.

Korn Ferry Tour - The Bahamas Great Abaco Classic at The Abaco Club
Sponsor exemption Ben Silverman earns second Korn Ferry Tour victory at The Bahamas Great Abaco Classic. Ben Silverman shot 118 in his first Canadian Junior Golf Association tournament, an unsurprising result given the fact he was 16 years old, relatively new to the game, and still thought of himself as a hockey player rather than an aspiring professional golfer. As Silverman lined up a playoff-forcing 3-footer for double bogey on the 72nd hole of The Bahamas Great Abaco Classic at The Abaco Club Wednesday afternoon, surrendering the last two shots of what was at one point an eight-stroke lead, it probably felt like a putt for 118.
“I got way ahead of myself in my head, thinking I already won the tournament,” Silverman said.
Silverman made the putt, signed for a 2-under 70 and caught a shuttle ride back up the fairway of the par-5 18th, where he hit shots into two different penalty areas no more than 10 minutes prior.
Cody Blick joined Silverman on the 18th tee this time around. Blick could hardly believe he had a chance at his first Korn Ferry Tour win. Just under a half hour ago, Blick figured a closing birdie for a round of 6-under 66 simply added a little extra flavour to the night’s dinner, as it took him to 15-under par, three strokes clear of a four-way tie for third place and more than enough for back-to-back runner-up finishes. Impressive stuff for someone who was without a single top-25 in 26 career Korn Ferry Tour starts preceding the 2023 season. Yes, dinner would taste phenomenal.
This trip down the 18th fairway, though, it was Blick who put two shots into the same penalty areas Silverman found in regulation, first on the layup, then the approach. Silverman nearly found the rocky native area up the right side of No. 18 with his lay up as well, but a fortunate bounce off the rocks put him in the fairway and with a routine wedge shot into the two-tiered green.
Silverman left his approach on the front half of the green and two-putted up the slope to his second career Korn Ferry Tour victory.
“It’s amazing. A little overwhelming,” Silverman said. “Honestly almost broke down in the fairway in regulation. It worked out in the end. I’ll learn a lot of lessons from that. Once I knew it was a playoff, Tom Whitney said in the scoring room, ‘No matter what, it was a great week.’ I just wanted to be more committed on my shots the second go round and just give it my all.”

PGA Tour of Australasia – TPS Victoria Hosted by Geoff Ogilvy
The TPS Victoria Hosted by Geoff Ogilvy is a mixed event where South Korean Min A Yoon became the second woman to win a Webex Players Series event with an eight-under final round 63 to secure the TPS Victoria title at Rosebud Country Club by a shot. The Official World Ranking points therefore go to James Marchesani who finished the event 2nd as OWGR is a Men’s Ranking.
James Marchesani played in the group behind Yoon, a chorus of moans and groans filled the air as the strong crowd rode every shot from local member Marchesani who attempted to force a playoff but was unable to make a birdie at 17 or 18.
The 32-year-old held a four-shot overnight advantage but a nervy start with bogeys at the third and fifth holes ultimately proved costly as he sought to claim his first victory on the ISPS HANDA PGA Tour of Australasia.
James finished his final round with a 69 and the Event 23 under (261) 1 behind the Winner Min A Yoon.
