News for the 6 Official World Golf Ranking Tournaments

PGA Tour - World Wide Technology Championship at Mayakoba

Russell Henley’s cathartic victory at World Wide Technology Championship is a fourth TOUR title winning by four-stroke’s at Mayakoba, snapping a victory drought of five-plus years. After a 1-under 70 Sunday, Henley won by four.

“I've just choked, you know. The nerves have gotten to me, and I've made bad mistakes. Bad mental mistakes. And just haven't gotten it done on Sunday,” said Henley of the recent struggles he’s had closing out PGA TOUR events. “Put myself in position a decent amount, just haven't gotten it done. So, to come out and kind of do everything pretty well today tee-to-green and keep it pretty clean and just play steady was what was nice.

“I don't think I would have done it unless I had kind of failed so many times.”

Henley started the day with a six-shot advantage but made bogey on the par-5 fifth – his first bogey of the week. He was seemingly unfazed, however, rolling in three straight birdies from Nos. 6-8 before making the turn.

Henley’s victory moves him up the World Rankings to his all-time best rank of 33

Japan Golf Tour -Mynavi ABC Championship

Mikumu Horikawa bagged his second JGTO title of the season, and fourth overall after claiming a two-shot victory at the Mynavi ABC Championship on Sunday.

The 29-year-old posted a five-under-par 67 to hold off Hiroshi Iwata, Daijiro Izumida and Riki Kawamoto, making up for his near-miss at the ABC Golf Club last year.

Starting the day just one shot off the pace, Horikawa overturned the deficit by firing six birdies, including four on his front-nine, against a lone bogey to finish on 17-under 271. With the win, Horikawa, who had won the Japan PGA Championship in August, became the sixth multiple winner of the season after Kazuki Higa, Shugo Imahira, Yuki Inamori, Riki Kawamoto and Taiga Semikawa.

"I think my game fits very well with this course. It's a highly strategic course with the fastest greens in Japan, something I'm very comfortable with," said Horikawa, who needed just 13 putts for his solid front-nine.

"It was a tough battle and I’m really grateful to my caddy for providing me with sound advice throughout the day."

Sunshine Tour - PGA Championship

Golf is a capricious mistress and George Coetzee has been in the game for long enough to know the swing he has one day might not be around the next, but the two-time Sunshine Tour order of merit champion had the experience, composure and skill to get the job done on Sunday as he clinched his second PGA Championship title at the St Francis Links.

Coetzee had just a one-stroke lead going into the final round, but a polished four-under-par 68 on Sunday, which included two eagles and almost a third, carried him to 15-under-par and a three-stroke victory in the prestigious R1.2 million tournament.

“I was pretty much under pressure all day, I didn’t really feel comfortable and my swing wasn’t 100%,” Coetzee said after claiming his 14th Sunshine Tour title.

“But golf is one of those games, it’s not like cycling where the more you cycle the better you get. You can have one swing on one day and then the next day another swing.

“So I was putting pressure on myself, but I stuck to the game-plan, made good choices and hit good shots, and luckily it was enough in the end,” Coetzee said.

Some of those shots were better than good as an eagle on the par-five third hole brought some early pleasure, and he holed out with a sand-wedge for an eagle-two on the par-four 10th hole. In between those highlights, he could also have eagled the 350-yard par-four fifth hole after driving the green, but his putt was narrowly wide.

Asian Tour - International Series Morocco

Jazz claims International Series Morocco after sensational eagle, birdie finish. Thailand’s Jazz Janewattananond won for the first time in nearly three years today when he triumphed in the US$1.5 million International Series Morocco after a brilliant eagle, birdie finish at Royal Golf Dar Es Salam.

The 2019 Asian Tour number one closed with a fine six-under-par 67 to finish on 12 under and beat Canadian Richard T. Lee by one stroke. Lee, who missed a 16-foot birdie putt on the last to force a play-off, shot a 70 while Spaniard David Puig fired a 73 to finish third, a stroke further back.

Jazz, playing in the third from last group having started the day four shots behind overnight leader Puig, burst through to victory thanks to a stunning five-under-par back nine.

“It feels amazing. It’s been a long journey and I’m just so happy to end the year on a high note,” said Jazz, whose girlfriend and fellow professional golfer Sarina Schmidt caddied for him this week.

“I had three holes left and I wasn’t even nearly at the top. I just had a really good finish – everything was really quick. When that last putt dropped I just felt so relieved, the waiting game begun, and now I’m here!”

He last won in December of 2019 at the Thailand Masters, which was one of his four wins that year.

Challenge Tour - Rolex Challenge Tour Grand Final supported by The R&A

Clinical Kimsey claims Rolex Grand Final and Rankings double. Nathan Kimsey became the first Englishman to win the Road to Mallorca Rankings since 2016 after securing his second victory of the season at the Rolex Challenge Tour Grand Final supported by the R&A.

The 29-year-old posted a closing two under par round of 70 to move to nine under par and secure a one-stroke victory over countryman John Parry and South African Bryce Easton, who shared second place at Club de Golf Alcanada to both break into the Road to Mallorca top 20 and clinch DP World Tour playing privileges.

Kimsey’s win saw him climb five places to the top of the Road to Mallorca Rankings and become the 11th English Challenge Tour Number One and first since Jordan Smith in 2016.

The Englishman started the final day slowly with four pars and a bogey in his first five holes, however after carding birdies at the sixth and eighth holes he climbed to the top of the leaderboard before an eagle at the par five 13th essentially sealed a memorable victory.

I’m knackered. Wining golf tournaments isn’t easy. That was a battle out there. I didn’t have my best stuff, but I hit some good shots and holed some putts when it mattered," Kimsey said.

“It’s a whole mix of stuff. Relief, happiness, just everything. Coming into the week, knowing I had it in my own hands, if I won to then finish as number on, it just feels great.

“I just tried to keep grinding. Nerves were a part of it so it was about trying to battle that and hit solid shots. I wanted to keep myself in with a chance coming up the last few holes and I did that.
